最近のちょっとした掘り出し物。ヨーロッパ(Brussels) 産のブートレッグなので大っぴらに紹介するのは気が引けるのだけれども，abkco が権利を持っていた楽曲なので，罪悪感はそれほど無い・・・(^_^;)
1.〜 15. が，abkco からリリースされていた "The Best Of Darlene Love" に収録されていた曲。以前は廃盤扱いでプレミアがついていたが，まもなく ↓ が発売されるためか，値下がりしている・・・？
◎ Darlene Love "The Sound of Love: The Very Best of Darlene Love" [Sony Legacy ]
表題の CD は，その "The Best Of Darlene Love" の収録曲に，Darlene Love や The Blossoms のシングル曲などを追加したもの。ソングライターのクレジットはあったけれども，いかにもブートらしく，その他の情報はまったく掲載されていない (^_^;)，
手持ちの CD では，↓ との重複もあるようだ。

◎ "A Christmas Gift For You from Phil Spector" [Phil Spector/abkco D2 4005] -1963
Darlene Love が所属していた The Blossoms は，New York のセッションで Sweet Inpirations が果たしていた役割を，Los Angeles のセッションで務めていたコーラス・グループ。
Sam Cooke 'Everybody Loves To Cha Cha Cha' のコーラスも彼女たちの仕事。TV 番組 "Shindig!" にレギュラー出演していたほか，"The T.A.M.I. Show" (タワレコの店頭に積んであった！) で，Marvin Gaye のコーラスを担当していたのも彼女たち。
Bob B. Soxx and The Blue Jeans の男性シンガーは，１９７０年代初めに Muscle Shoals(Fame, Widget, Broadway Sound) で録音された楽曲が CD 化された Bobby Sheen と同一人物。

"The Last Soul Company" を自称している Malaco Records からリリースされていた Southern Soul の編集盤。第１集は２００２年，第２集は２００３年に発売された。
"Southern Soul" というタイトルが付いているが，'60 年代後半から '70 年代前半にかけてメジャーなレーベルからリリースされ，ヒット・チャートもにぎわしていた時代の "Southern Soul" よりは，アダルトでムーディーな曲が多い。
"Southern Soul" というジャンルが，シングル盤のベストセラーとして一時的な流行に終わるのではなく，Z.Z. Hill "Down Home" に代表されるように，アルバム単位でロングセラーとして息長く聴き続けられるような音楽になっている。
この時代はこういうコンピ盤でお手軽に済ませていたのだが，Bobby Bland の次は Z.Z. Hill をそろえる予定。途中で亡くなっているので枚数も少ないし・・・(^_^;)
CD ２枚組のセットにはプレミアがついているが，MP3 ダウンロードには手頃な値段のものがあった・・・あったけれども，わずかではあるが収録曲数が・・・(^_^;) それでも，アルバム単位での購入がかなりお買い得。

CD でこういう編集盤を集めていると常について回る悩みだが，ダブりの嵐・・・(^_^;)
The Wallace Brothers の曲も，P-Vine 盤 ↓ の CD に収録されていた。

ライナー(Bill Dahl) によると，Nashville 生まれの Ricky Allen は，Chicago の Mel London というプロデューサの下で 'Cut You A-Loose'(1963) という Top 20 R&B hit を持つ，Blues'n'Soul のシンガー。
Jesse Anderson の 'Help Wanted' という曲は，Gene Barge との共作で，アレンジ，プロデュース，サックスも Gene Barge が担当し，ピアノは Donny Hathaway，ギターは Phil Upchurch，ドラムは Morris Jennings というミュージシャンだったそうだ。
Jimmy Dobbins は，↓ に収録されていたシンガーと同一人物らしい。

彼女は，Diana Ross ばかりが優遇されることに腹を立てて Berry Gordy と喧嘩し(Motown を出た直後は，Berry Gordy が DJ を買収して Mary Wells のレコードを放送させなかったらしい)，Aretha Franklin だけが目立つことが気に入らなくて Atcoを飛び出して，Jubilee にやって来たそうだ。この 'The Doctor' の作者は，C & M Womack 。当時，Cecil Womack が彼女の husband/guitarist/co-writer だった。

Bobby Womack が妙な色気を出さず，兄弟の結束を強めてグループとしての活動に重点を置いていたら，この The Valentinos は，The Isley Bros. と同等あるいはそれ以上の兄弟バンドになっていたはずだが・・・。
18. Don't Let Me Down - Donald Height [1969, Jubilee 5671]
Lennon/McCartney の曲。当時は，Otis Redding 'Day Tripper'，Wilson Pickett 'Hey Jude' などのように，ソウル・シンガーの間でもビートルズの曲をカバーすることが一種の流行になっていた。この CD をリリースしている Sequel はイギリスのレーベルのためか，Mastered at Abbey Road Studios というクレジットがある。
19. People Sure Act Funny (When They Got A Little Money) - Titus Turner [1967, Josie 990]
Ray Charles 'I Got A Woman' や Sam Cooke '(Ain't That) Good News' と同じルーツを持っているようなスタイルの曲。Arthur Conley も歌っていた。この Titus Turner は，Little Willie John 'All Around The World'，'Leave My Kitten Alone' なども書いている。
20. Hymn No.5 - Mighty Hannibal [1966, Josie 1966]
ベトナム戦争について歌った曲はこれ以外にもたくさんあり，そういう曲ばかりを集めたコンピ盤もある。

今年最初のちょっとした掘り出し物。日アマゾンのマーケット・プレイスで，送料込みでも \2K ちょっと・・・。
タイトル曲の 'Lookin' For A Home' と Bowlegs Miller がアレンジした 'I Got A Good Thing Going' は，↓ のコンピ盤(Valentinos "Tired of Being Nobody"，Donald Height "Don't Let Me Down" など) で楽しんでいたし，

このシングル＋未発表曲集がリリースされるきっかけとなった，デビュー・アルバム ↓ は，かなりお気に入りだったのだが，
◎ Little Buster & Soul Brothers, The "Right On Time!" [Blueseye Blues CD BB 9562] -1995
何度か機会はあったものの買い逃しているうちにプレミアが付いてしまった CD の内の１枚。
日アマゾンで法外な値段が付いていても，米アマゾンなら割安・・・というパターンが一般的なのだが，P-Vine などから日本盤がリリースされていたアルバムについては，カタカナ表記で検索すると，時々たま〜に格安で出品されていることがある。
エル・テッチ さんが "Right On Time" を紹介されていたのを読んで，このアルバムがまた欲しくなり，ふと思いついて「カタカナ」で検索すると，いつもの半額近いブツが見つかった。もちろん，日本語解説(高沢仁) 付・・・(^_^)v
◎ リトル・バスター "幻のジュビリー・アルバム" [P-Vine PCD 3648]
デビュー・シングルで，アルバム・タイトルにもなっている 'Lookin' For A Home' の歌い出しには，Sam Cooke の影響がはっきりと現れているし，

２nd シングルのタイトルは 'You Were Meant For Me'・・・(^_^;)

来日したこともあり，その当時のライブ録音が MP3 アルバムとして購入可能だが・・・。

日アマゾンでは試聴ができず，iTunes では試聴ができたもののなぜか価格がちがう・・・？
今月は，浅川マキの紙ジャケ１０枚ですでに予算をオーバーしている状態なので・・・(^_^;)
スタジオ録音としては，もう１枚アルバムがリリースされているが，・・・
◎ Little Buster & Soul Brothers, The "Work Your Show" [Fedora FCD 5020] -2000
１枚目の "Right On Time" に比べるとサウンドがチープで，Little Buster のボーカルのテンションも低め。
なぜかオリジナルが１曲もなく，カバー曲ばかりという構成なのも，物足りなかった・・・(^_^;)

全１００曲を時代別にまとめてみた。

Sam Cooke "100 Greatest Hits (Amazon Edition)" [AudioSonic Music ]
日アマゾンの MP3 ダウンロード で，１００曲が￥９００ というアルバム。非常に手頃な値段だし，アナログ盤からのデジタル化にかかる手間を考えて，購入してみた。
収録曲の時代別リストは，コチラ。
ドイツの MP3 専門の AudioSonic Music というレーベルから昨年末にリリースされている。英アマゾンにはあるのに，米アマゾンで販売されていないのは，やはり権利関係のゴタゴタが原因か・・・？
アルバム単位で購入すると，１曲あたり￥９という価格も驚きだが，昨年の "The Keen Records Story (3 CDs)" [Not Now NOT3CD037] に収録されていなかった Keen 時代の楽曲('So Glamorous' を除く) や RCA での１st アルバム "Cooke's Tour" の全曲など，RCA 初期の未 CD 化曲や過去に CD 化されたことがあっても現在では入手が困難になっている曲なども収録されているので，マニアにもおすすめできる。音質も，個人的には，十分許容範囲 やはり，１００曲全部聞いてみると，かなりひどいものもあったが，値段が値段なので，それほど腹は立たない・・・(^_^;)
『ハーレム・スクエア・クラブ』 の Sam Cooke が最高で，RCA 初期の軟弱な曲など聞くに堪えないと思っている人も，Sam が「さよなら」と日本語で歌っている ↓ くらいは，聞いておいてもらいたい。曲調は完全に中国風だが・・・(^_^;)
