↑ に，'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby' が収録されたことでソウル・ファンにもそれなりの知名度があったと思われる Charlie Rich だけれども，彼の書いた 'Don't Put No Headstone On My Grave' を，昨年 Poretta Soul Festival に出演した Spencer Wiggins が取り上げた(19:30-) ことで，さらに親近感が増したはず・・・。

なにしろ Spencer は，歌い始める前に Charlie Rich のことを a very good friend of mine と紹介している。
Fame で録音しているときに Little Richard を見かけたと言って喜び，Bettye Swann のヒット曲をカバーし，Charlie Rich と友人であることを自慢するなど，Spencer Wiggins はかなりのミーハーかも・・・(^_^;)

表題の CD は，Charlie Rich の全キャリアをほぼ概観できるアンソロジー。

↑ 公式サイト内の Choice CDs でも，"There's no better place to begin an appreciation for the enormous, diverse talents of Charlie Rich than this thoughtfully produced CD of many of Charlie’s greatest musical moments." と紹介されていて，Country music だけでなく，R'n'R，R&B/Soul，Gospel から Jazzy な曲まで，さまざまなスタイルの曲が収録されている。

１９７３年に大ヒットした 'Behind Closed Doors'(Country Singles: 1, Hot 100: 15) や 'The Most Beautiful Girl'(Country Singles: 1, Hot 100: 1) をプロデュースした Billy Sherill は，Muscle Shoals の出身で Rick Hall と同じカントリーのグループに所属していたこともあり，The Osmonds 'Sweet and Innocent' のような共作曲もある人物。

あまりにもポップ過ぎる曲はちょっと・・・と考えているソウル・ファン向けには，Hi 録音の作品集がある。
