◎ V.A. "The Sweet Sounds Of Muscle Shoals vol. 3: You Better Believe It!" [Overture 34903-2]
↑ には Southern(アメリカの南部で生み出された) Soul が収録されているのに対して，表題の CD は Northern(イギリスの北部で人気のある) Soul のコンピ盤。この 'Southern' と 'Northern' というネーミングは紛らわしく，なかなかなじめないが，そういう風に定義されているのだから，仕方がない・・・(^_^;)
この Northern Soul のコンピ盤には，Muscle Sholas, Ala.(1. 23. 25.) や Houston, Tx.(14.)，Malaco Studio, Jackson, Miss.(18.) など，アメリカ南部で録音された曲も含まれていて，そういう曲は Northern Soul であると同時に Southern Soul でもあると言える・・・？
Mary Wells の 'If You Can't Give Her Love' は，Bobby Womack がプロデュースした Muscle Shoals 録音。イントロの語りも Bobby。

続編の Vol.2 は廃盤になっているようでプレミアが付いているが，レアなシングルも含まれた，こういう編集盤のほうがシングルをこつこつと集めるよりも財布にかかる負担は少ない・・・はず。例によって，いくつかの曲が手持ちの CD と重複しているが・・・(^_^;)
アルバム・タイトルの元になっている Brenton Wood の曲も CD でリリースされている。
